Adding a child

Adding children
Children of any age can have their own passports. You can have children
under the age of 16 added to your passport, provided you are their legal
guardian. Some countries, however, require children to have their own
passports at a younger age. A travel agency, or the embassy or consulate in
the country in question, can provide you with information on this.
In order to establish the child's identity, he or she must be present when
you apply. You need to bring a passport photo of the child that is a good
likeness and complies with the Photo Matrix (2007 Model). Also, if
applicable, you will have to submit written permission from the other legal
guardian and proof of his or her identity, even if your child is already
included in your current passport!
If the child is added when the parent or guardian applies for a passport for
himself or herself, the information will be printed in the document. If the
child is added once the passport has been issued, a special sticker is
affixed to the parent or guardian's travel document. The waiting time for
adding a child is the same as for a passport. Your child does not need to be
present when you collect the passport.
