Applying in the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba
If you live in the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba and you are
registered in the population register, you can apply for a passport
at the Register of Births, Marriages and Deaths, Population and
Elections of the island territory in question. If you are not
registered, you can apply for a passport at the Office of the
Governor of the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba.
You must apply for a new travel document in person. When
applying for a travel document you will be required to prove your
identity and nationality. To do this you need to bring the
following items:
- all the travel documents in your possession, both Dutch and
foreign if you have more than one nationality
- one colour passport photo that is a good likeness and complies
with the Photo Matrix (2007 Model)
Anyone who has Dutch nationality can apply for a travel
document, irrespective of age. Children under 18 wishing to apply
for a passport will require the written permission of both parents
(or the legal guardian). When applying, you also need to provide
valid proof of identity of the parent or guardian granting written
permission. The same applies to children under 12 wishing to apply
for an identity card. From the age of 12, no permission is required
to apply for a Dutch identity card. One colour passport photo of
the child that is a good likeness and complies with the Photo
Matrix 2007 model is also required.
Travel documents are personalized at a central facility in the
Netherlands, so you need to allow for a waiting time of about two
weeks.
