Dutch identity card
A Dutch identity card enables you to provide proof of identity and travel to
certain European countries. It is in bank card format and is valid for five
years. Children cannot be added to an identity card. Children under 12
wishing to apply for a Dutch identity card require the permission of both
parents (or the legal guardian). Children of 12 or over do not need such
permission.
You can only apply for a Dutch identity card in the municipality where you
live or, if you live in a country where the Identity Card is valid, the
Dutch embassy or consulate in that country.
